The book “Wings of Fire”: Is the autobiography of Dr. APJ Abul Kalam, who served as the 11th president of India from 2002 to 2007. He was born on 15 August 1931 in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu, India. His father was a school teacher and mother was a housewife. He completed his schooling from St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli, and graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Madras University .

In 1955, he joined the Indian Air Force and was commissioned as a pilot officer. After serving in the IAF for three years, he resigned from service to join the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Bombay. There, he worked on the design of a rocket engine.

Abdul Kalam got the India’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna for his priceless contribution to the nation. He served as the chief of India’s defence research and development projects.
