Detailed Eligibility Criterias for UPSC ESE 2023
First of all, citizenship requirements are mandatory as like any other government exams, now see other details below.
Age Limits
- Lower age limit is 21 years and the upper is 30 years.
- SC ST candidates will get 5 years of relaxation on upper age limit.
- OBC category candidates will get 3 years of upper Age relaxation.
Educational Qualification
- The mandatory educational qualification required is a bachelor degree in engineering i.e. BE/B Tech. in the respective trade candidates are applying for.
- Candidates with MSc degree in electronics, radiographics and wireless communication are also eligible to apply for respective posts.
Application Fees For ESE 2023
- General/OBC/EWS category candidates are required to pay an amount of Rs.200.
- SC/ST/PwD/Female candidates are exempted from paying any application fee.
Online Application Process
Online application process for this year is similar as like the previous year. Now see each steps below one by one to apply online on the official website of UPSC:
- First of all visit the official website of UPSC at: www.upsc.gov.in.
- Then go to the “Apply Online” section on the homepage.
- Click on the online “Application For Various Examinations” tab.
- Then, Find out the ESE Online Application form and click on it.
- Then on the next window a form will be opened before you to submit all your details.
- In this form fill up all your personal, residential and educational details in the required feels one by one.
- After filling all your details, on the next page you will be required to upload scanned copy of your documents and signature.
- After entering all your details and uploading your documents, recheck all the details you filled in different blanks of the form.
- Finally, pay the online application fees as applicable as per your chosen category and submit the form.
- Lastly take a print out of the successfully submitted online application form for future requirements.
In Hand Salary And Pay Scale
Salary and allowances of an IES officer is mostly similar like any other Civil Services posts. Apart from that, after enforcement of the 7th pay commission, salary of the officers have drastically changed from the previous in-hand salary of Rs.42000 to Rs.55135 as of now.

Selection Process Stages Of ESE Recruitment 2023
The selection process consists of mainly three stages:
- Firstly, Preliminary Exam consists of objective Paper-1 of General Studies and Engineering Aptitude and objective Paper-2 of Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics) subjects.
- Secondly, Mains Exam consist of two descriptive Paper-1 and Paper-2 of Engineering subjects of their respective trades.
- And finally, the Personality Test or Interview.

UPSC Released the tentative exam date of the IES priliminary Exam 2023 as 19th February of 2023, this exam date may also be changed if any issue occurs.
