Both schools, at the kindergarten and pre-school level impart Montessori type, high quality, western style education blended with rich Indian Vedic Culture.

The education starts at the kindergarten level, at the age of 3.5 years. Montessori is not a system for training children in academic studies; nor is it a label to be put on educational materials. It is a revolutionary method of observing and supporting the natural development of children. Montessori educational practice helps children develop creativity, problem solving, critical thinking and time-management skills, to contribute to society and the environment, and to become fulfilled persons in their particular time and place on Earth.

The basis of Montessori practice in the classroom is respected individual choice of research and work and uninterrupted concentration. Montessori is the fastest growing and most successful method of education today. Our version of Montessori - Gurukula education system integrates the spirit of Dr. Maria Montessori with Indian Vedic traditions and culture, giving our students a unique blend of perspectives on life, and tools for adaptation into the modern world without loosing the sight and pride of their roots.

Interestingly, there is a strong link between Dr. Maria Montessori and India. During World War II Dr. Montessori was forced into exile from Italy because of her antifascist views and lived and worked in India. It was here that she developed her work Education for Peace, and developed many of the ideas taught in her training courses today. These ideas bear strong resemlance to the ancient Vedic Gurukula system of education and undoubtedly are based on it. She was twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Math class at Vidya Kendra. From the arrangements of students' tables and chairs you can see that they are encouraged to work and solve problems in teams rather than just passively listen to the teacher.
